Last Saturday, October 12th, the second annual Technology Day in Dongen took place in Heuvelpark. This free event was organized by local technology companies, with the goal of showcasing technology in an accessible and interactive way. The day was designed for a wide audience, from young people and students to career changers and professionals interested in the technology sector.
Around 20 Dongen-based companies participated in the event, playfully introducing visitors to the versatility of technology. Through workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, visitors had the opportunity to experience firsthand the possibilities within the technical sector . From installation technology to manufacturing and construction, various sectors were covered in detail. For those interested in learning more about a potential career in technology, a special job board was set up in the workshop, displaying open positions in various technical fields.
The visitors
This year's event saw a huge increase in visitor numbers . Last year, approximately 430 people attended Technology Day, but this year the number of visitors rose to 768. This growth highlights the growing interest in technology and demonstrates that the event has become an important platform for both businesses and the public. Many visitors particularly appreciated the opportunity to engage with local businesses and get involved in various activities.
Technology Day, however, had already begun a day earlier for a special target group: 300 students from Cambreur College . On Friday, these students received an exclusive tour of the participating companies, where they attended demonstrations and actively participated in various technical assignments. The day concluded with a joint project: making their own tape roll holder. This hands-on experience was a fun and educational way to get young people excited about a possible future in technology.
Besides the many workshops and demonstrations, Technology Day also offered valuable networking opportunities. Visitors could talk to industry professionals, with ample opportunity to inquire about internships, part-time jobs, and job openings. For many young people and career changers, this was the perfect opportunity to gain insight into the technology sector and discover career opportunities in the region.
System Flex at Technology Day Dongen
System Flex was also present at this year's Technology Day with a creative and educational activity focused on spatial awareness. Young people were challenged to design different spaces in an office environment using Lego blocks. For example, the assignment was to furnish a cafeteria, with each Lego block representing a specific type of wall, such as glass, felt, wood , or metal studs. This not only gave participants insight into the practical applications of different materials but also stimulated their creativity and problem-solving skills. The person who designed the most beautiful and functional space had a chance to win a gift certificate for a game .
Looking back
The organizers are pleased with this successful edition, thanks in part to the support of the municipality of Dongen, Midpoint Brabant , and the participating companies. Dongen Technology Day has become a major event that not only offers entertainment but also serves as a source of inspiration for anyone interested in technology and technical professions. With growing interest, it's clear that Technology Day will continue to be a success in the region.
All in all, the second edition of Technology Day was a fantastic day for young and old, full of discoveries and learning moments.
