Building Experience: American grandeur in the heart of Rotterdam
Welcome to "Building Experience," the column where we bring architecture and interior design to life. Today, we disembark at Rotterdam Central Station and find ourselves face-to-face with a true slice of American presence: the Marriott Hotel in the iconic Millennium Tower. This building brings a true Manhattan feel to Dutch soil. Is the interior equally imbued with this gigantic scale?
A skyscraper with a golden edge
Some architects compare the Millennium Tower to the Empire State Building, which isn't surprising given the design's Canadian roots. In the bright sunlight, the concrete structure appears to glow golden. Once inside, the line between Rotterdam and New York completely blurs. The lobby welcomes you with high ceilings, gleaming mirrored floors, and an abundance of natural light.

Roaring Twenties meets modern business
The Marriott has successfully blended the sleek, business-like character of a skyscraper with a touch of the Roaring Twenties. In the bar, dark wood and gold velvet chairs create an atmosphere of opulence and comfort. It's an elegant setting reminiscent of cinematic grandeur.

Design down to the smallest detail
The magic of this hotel lies in the details. The rooms offer panoramic city views and strike the perfect balance between style and functionality. The highlight is perhaps the restaurant, where golden elements from the facade and lobby reappear. The combination of luxurious materials and atmospheric wooden accents gives the space a surprising, almost homely feel.
Transparency and luxury through System Flex
To enhance the Marriott's luxurious appearance, System Flex created custom glass solutions. A special highlight of this project is the wine room, finished with high-quality gray glass. Our walls provide the necessary transparency without disrupting the hotel's intimate, chic atmosphere.
