The very first Afbouw Vakdagen (Afbouw Trade Days) took place in the vibrant atmosphere of Evenementenhal Gorinchem on November 8th and 9th. The event was promoted in various ways for months beforehand, and the doors finally opened on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. This recap takes you through the highlights of the event and offers a preview of the promising second edition.
Six squares, countless discoveries
The trade show floor was divided into six areas: Plastering, Walls & Ceilings, Natural Stone, Floors & Terrazzo, Painting, and Tiling. Each area served as a zone where professionals showcased their craft, creativity, and expertise to the public. Visitors could be inspired by demonstrations, discover new products, and engage directly with the experts.
Knowledge sharing was a central theme, not only between the stands but also in the dedicated knowledge plaza. Sessions were organized there, ranging from technical talks to discussions on topics such as health and safety at work. Jim Stolze's engaging lecture on artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on innovation within organizations was particularly noteworthy.
The numbers
The figures speak volumes about the success of the Afbouw Vakdagen 2023. A remarkable 3,123 professionals entered the hall, 30 percent of whom were self-employed. Besides finishing companies and contractors, representatives from handyman businesses and the maintenance sector were also present. With 99 exhibitors spread across the six zones, a lively interaction developed between exhibitors and visitors.
The Afbouw Innovatie Audience Award added an extra dimension to the event. With 11 nominees, the competition was fierce, but ultimately Wurth secured 25 percent of the votes, earning their Shark Twist plug the coveted prize.
