acoustic ceiling

The space we work in should feel good. Whether we need to concentrate, have a serious conversation, or inspire each other, good acoustics play a major role in this. Sound influences people's mood, productivity, and well-being. That's why we offer not only system walls but also acoustic ceiling islands. With System Flex acoustic ceiling islands, you reduce annoying reverberation, create comfortable sound levels, and minimize sound transfer between workstations. Disruptive noise from colleagues on the phone is dampened and concentration levels are increased. This allows you to create a pleasant work environment in any environment.

Improve the acoustics in your office

In quiet spaces, our memory works better and we focus longer. Too many distractions hinder our ability to perform complex tasks. Improving the sound environment in an open-plan office therefore reduces distraction and stress. System Flex's acoustic ceiling islands offer excellent sound insulation, reducing reverberation in the room. This is especially true when colleagues are in meetings or discussing their weekend getaways. But an office is more than just a place where people work. It also represents a company's brand. Poor office acoustics negatively impact the overall experience of a building. When office acoustics are good, they positively impact employee and visitor satisfaction.

The benefits of an acoustic ceiling

  • Productive and healthy workplace

A good acoustic environment ensures less fatigue, less stress and ultimately less absenteeism.

  • Privacy

By dampening sound better, noise can spread more slowly. This reduces the direct impact of noise on each other.

  • Reduced noise level

The noise level in the room is reduced. This means sound travels less far, resulting in better sound quality and a better listening experience.

  • Better intelligibility

Reverb and acoustics are improved. This results in better sound quality and increased intelligibility.

What are acoustic ceiling islands?

Acoustic ceiling islands are free-hanging, sound-absorbing panels. These islands reduce reverberation and increase speech intelligibility. Because they are free-hanging, they can absorb sound waves on both sides. The space between the ceiling island and the structural ceiling provides additional sound absorption through the panel, meaning you need less material than with a full suspended ceiling . Ceiling islands have the added benefit of allowing for localized sound dampening, even on the wall.

Many design possibilities

Ceiling islands are a perfect solution when a wall-to-wall suspended ceiling isn't feasible, or when dividing the space with acoustic partitions isn't desirable. Acoustic ceilings offer a solution in this case. With their minimalist look, the ceiling island combines functionality and ambiance.

Frequently Asked Questions

A system ceiling has the advantage of improving the acoustics in a room, improving the light output (provided it is white), and is cheaper than having no system ceiling at all. This is because otherwise a more expensive system would have to be installed (everything is visible) and additional acoustic measures and more lighting would have to be installed for the same light output per m².

System ceilings start at €35.00 per m²; for a higher-quality ceiling, add around €3.00 per m². A recessed ceiling starts at €45.00 per m². A concealed system ceiling starts at €65.00 per m².
