March 8th is International Women's Day. On this day, we raise awareness for women's rights. We celebrate the places where we've achieved rights, but also demonstrate for those where we can still improve. Emancipation is never finished. It's a process from which we must continue to learn every day. Emancipation is about equal rights, equal responsibilities, and equal freedoms. Until the right balance is achieved, an International Women's Day is necessary to raise awareness. At System Flex, women are well represented. A total of nine women currently work in both the office and the workshop, three of whom started last year. We'd like to list a few of our powerful women!

Wendy Claassen

Wendy started as a marketing communications coordinator at System Flex in the summer of 2022. Previously, she worked in a truly male-dominated world among the trucks, both in planning and marketing.

"System Flex hired me when I was 20 weeks pregnant. I'm still incredibly grateful for the opportunity they gave me, because that's not something you get everywhere. In November, I became a mother for the first time, having a daughter. I started working 24 hours a week. This gives me an ideal work-life balance.

The best part of my job is writing articles and creating posts for LinkedIn. When I see at the end of the month what my creative ideas have accomplished, it makes me incredibly proud!

Ellen Nijboer

Ellen joined System Flex in September 2022 as a junior project coordinator. Previously, she worked at Hornbach in the shop and sawmill, and was the point of contact for customers.

"Until six years ago, I traveled extensively, but this finally convinced me: Breda is where I belong. This is also where I met my husband. We have a four-year-old daughter together.

I have a really cool hobby: woodworking. I make furniture, but I also work with wood veneer and carve wood. I love reading and have built up a nice collection of all the classics.

The best part of working at System Flex is analyzing the projects. We figure out which materials are needed for which job. You fully immerse yourself in a specific project.

Joekie van Haagen

Joekie has been working at System Flex for two and a half years as a buyer and planner. Previously, she worked as a Recruiter.

"Without any prior knowledge, I found my way into the purchasing profession. I now have a daughter, and despite working slightly fewer hours, I'm still learning new things every day. I'm currently mentoring our new colleague, Ferry, in mastering the purchasing profession. This allows me to focus on other aspects of purchasing and planning."

Sometimes, I find it difficult to balance work and home life as a mother. But after a hard day's work, I'm also very satisfied when I've accomplished things and then enjoy being with my family. Work also offers a sense of independence.
